We have seen a lot of apartments converted into condos and sold to the public in the past few years. But, The Battery in Park West, was built and then sold immediately to the condo consumer. Wrenn Investments (former Clemson quarterback) who developed The Retreat on James Island built this complex. The luxury condos feature 9 foot ceilings, crown molding, stainless steel appliances, and designer kitchens with maple cabinets. There are 4 different floor plans: Gibbes, Murray, Moultrie and Tradd. The two and three bedroom units have screened-in decks. The complex is gated and has its own amenities within the complex including a clubhouse, gym, pool tables, swimming pool, and pond.
The beaches of Isle of Palms are a quick 10 minutes away and Historic Charleston can be reached in 25 minutes.
We’re heading deeper into PARK WEST on Park West Blvd. that turns into Dunes West Blvd. and right now we’re going on to Gray Marsh Road, back into the more expensive part of PARK WEST, starting with these town homes. These town homes are pretty neat….they actually have pretty good finishes. One thing I don’t like about the town homes is that some don’t have garages. They have storage sheds in the back, so its not quite as user friendly as it could have been or as attractive to buyers as it would be if it had garages. Also in this section of PARK WEST, they built some condominiums that were actually built as condominiums. Keep in mind that if you’re in the market for a condominium, its best if they were built originally as condominiums initially. You don’t want a condo that was formerly an apartment because the sound proofing in an apartment ‘spec’ is not the same as it would be in condominiums built right out of the gate. THE BATTERY has 2 and 3 bedroom units. I think the larger ones are a shade over 2000 square feet and these do have elevators so I think. depending on what your needs are, these could help, if you don’t want to go up and down steps. Some units have nice wooded views, and there is a pool that is just for this complex. These were built right before the economy tanked, around 2006 and finished in 2007. Some of them have garages that you can buy separately from the units. So if you need extra area for parking or storage, some do come with garages. There is a grilling area directly in front of us and some play equipment for kids. I think these are a pretty good value. At the shooting of this video, you can buy a unit for $175K to $275K, depending on the size. Again, this is THE BATTERY inside of PARK WEST.
